FIRE PUMPSETS

Fire pump sets are required when the local water authorities cannot provide adequate pressure to meet the design's hydraulic requirements of the fire sprinkler or hydrant system. This is common in multi-story buildings or large warehouses.

Fire hydrant pump systems are high pressure water pumps designed to increase the fire fighting capacity of a building by boosting the pressure in the hydrant service when mains is not enough, or when tank fed.

Fire sprinkler pump systems are high pressure water pumps designed to deliver a relatively high terminal pressure at the fire sprinkler head in order to release a large volume of water. The pumps are powered by electric or diesel.

Combined sprinkler and hydrant systems are options or multi-storey buildings greater than two storeys in height and based on the principles of a common reticulation system serving both sprinklers and hydrants.

To ensure the fire pump can provide sufficient water flow and pressure to the fire sprinkler piping system, it must undergo frequent operating tests and preventive maintenance in accordance with the Australian Standards AS1851.

A reliable and operational pump is critical in the event of a fire.
